Tuition costs

  • Hungary is the only place in Europe with a combination of high-quality education and affordable tuition fees. For international students, tuition fees range from as low as €2,000 to €6,000 annually. Most students are able to find their desired program with a budge of €3,000.

Living costs

  • Same as education, Hungary offers the combination of high-quality life and affordable living. Monthly living costs can be as low as €300, and yes this is including the rent, food, travel etc. On average students spend from €350 – €500 depending on how they are spending and the type of accommodation they are living in.
  • Student dormitories are cheaper than private accommodations, however, compared to other popular study destinations even private accommodation is quite cheap.

Job Prospects

  • International students studying on a study permit are allowed to work 20hrs/week during the study period and full-time during semester breaks (summer and winter vacations).
  • After graduation students can obtain a 9-month job seeker permit which allows them to stay in the country to look for jobs, and upon a successful job hunt and a willing sponsor, they can obtain a work permit.

Climate

  • Hungary has a moderate climate, experiencing all four seasons. Average high temperature in the summer is 23 to 28 °C (73 to 82 °F) and temperature can climb up above 35 °C on the hottest days in July-August. Average low temperature in the winter is −3 to −7 °C (27 to 19 °F) and temperature might drop below -10 °C on the coldest days
  • Be sure to bring winter-appropriate clothes, such as a heavy coat, boots, and gloves. T-shirts, shorts, and sandals are more comfortable to wear throughout the summer months
